Unibail-Rodamco's performance is regularly assessed by analysts, researchers, investors and third-party certification bodies.
Unibail-Rodamco is listed on several prestigious SRI indexes:
- FTSE4Good (listed since 2008),
- Dow Jones Sustainability Index (listed on the World Index since 2008 and the Europe Index since 2010),
- ASPI Eurozone Index (listed since 2010),
- NYSE Euronext Low Carbon 100 Europe® Index (listed since 2010).
- STOXX® Global ESG Leaders Index (listed since 2011).
In February 2011, Unibail-Rodamco was selected for inclusion in the Ethibel EXCELLENCE Investment Register and also entered the Corporate Knights Global 100 list of the world's most sustainable companies.
The Group's sustainability performance also receives positive reviews from researchers and analysts.
For example, Unibail-Rodamco ranked 3rd in a 2009 survey of 45 listed European real estate companies that was commissioned by APG/PGGM/USS and supported by EPRA. It was identified as a top performer for the quality of its teams and energy efficiency improvements in a 2009 study of European real estate investment trusts (REITs) conducted by Cheuvreux.
In 2010, the University of Maastricht published a report, with support from APG and PGGM, which ranked Unibail-Rodamco 1st in Continental Europe for environmental policy management, implementation and measurement.
Environmental certification
Unibail-Rodamco seeks BREEAM certification for all of its new developments and extensions of more than 10,000 m2. BREEAM is the world's most widely used sustainable construction certification.
Unibail-Rodamco aims to achieve a rating of Very Good or better for projects delivered from 2011 onwards. The Docks 76 project was the first shopping centre in Europe to receive BREEAM certification. Since then, its teams have achieved a number of other "firsts":

Unibail-Rodamco also applies for national certification when relevant. For example, HQE certification is often sought for French projects. HQE is the French standard certification scheme for sustainable construction. In 2010, the new hall at Paris-Nord Villepinte in France became the first convention and exhibition building to be constructed to HQE standards. Three of the Group's office projects were certified HQE in 2010.
All 14 of the Group's managed shopping centres in Spain have ISO 14001 certification.
13 assets in France and Spain, including the Group's corporate headquarters in Paris, are certified under the European Union 'Greenlight' scheme. GreenLight is a voluntary programme whereby private and public organisations commit to reducing their lighting energy use, thus reducing polluting emissions.
